look closely at one section of the work

look at the piece as a whole

follow one line or shape in the piece from left to right; top to bottom

pick a point at the bottom center of the artwork

focus on that point

move your eyes to the center of the work and focus there

slowly let your eyes take in the whole artwork as you keep looking at the center

move back from the piece

take it all in

move to another piece and repeat
